Shoot Your Brand - For founders and coaches

Over the past year I’ve been working with some fabulous founders and coaches with my Styled Business Flat Lay service. The one question that kept popping up was, do I offer a personal photography branding service? For obvious reasons this past year has been slightly difficult for in-person shoots, so I’m super excited to tell you that, yes, I am offering personal branding photography shoots!

Online Business Manager Sarah Forde recently used my new Shoot Your Brand service. Sarah took five minutes out of her busy schedule to chat to me about how her collection of on brand photos have helped her business to grow, why she wanted to use a personal branding photographer, and how Margot the motorhome has enabled her to work on the move!

Hello, Sarah, tell us all a little bit more about you and your business?

“Hello, I’m Sarah! I support female service-based business owners scale without overwhelm. Decluttering the business back-office, automating processes, organising workflows and getting my clients ready to grow their team and make more sales. The results are a tidy, efficient business with a framework in place to thrive. My services relieve the work overload and reduce the pressure of having to do all the things. I help my clients win back more time, energy and motivation to move their business forward in a way that works for them.”

You’ve previously used my Styled Business Flat Lay service. How did this service help your business to grow?

“When I used your Styled Business Flat Lay service I hoped the portfolio of images you created would work well on my website and social media, however - your package delivered so much more than I had wished for! I use your images every week! I regularly use the photos on my email newsletters, invoicing, blog posts, contracts, and on-boarding documents as well as my social media templates, proposals and case studies …. the list goes on and on! What I love is that I am able to use one image in a variety of ways but either focusing on just one part of the photo or adding a text overlay or other elements to the image with a graphic design platform such as Canva™️.”  

Why did you want to use a personal branding photographer and how did you think the images would help elevate your business?

“I knew that I needed to invest in a professional shoot. My brand is me and I had been using ‘selfies’ from my kitchen or the odd image that one of my kids had taken - the photos were ok, but they looked like “quick snaps” taken on a phone - which they were! I was so happy with the updated look of my website from the images I had used from your Styled Business Flat Lay service and felt that I needed to have more professionally styled images of myself on my website.  I’d ‘made do’ with the more ‘casual’ look as I got my business off the ground and one of the goals I had set myself for 2021 was to invest in a professional photoshoot.”

“I don’t really enjoy having my photo taken (and I have used the same few images of me time and time again) so booking a professional shoot was a big deal. I knew that Susan understood my business, my personality, style and brand from the portfolio of brand photography she had already produced for me. I knew Susan would take the time to make me feel comfortable and at ease. I also didn’t want the photos to be too ‘polished’ - part of my brand is bringing calm, peace and stability to a client. I also wanted to convey that I am flexible, adaptable and that I value the importance of time spent away from work.” 

The idea of travel is really important to you and your business. Can you explain a little bit more about why you wanted the images of you with Margot the motorhome?

“The images Susan has produced reflect a new way of working. In the digital world we live in and the changes over the last year we are all adapting to a much more flexible and fluid way of working. For me, I am now in a position to work from anywhere! This is due to us investing in our motorhome. My husband and I both now work from home - and home is wherever we happen to be in Margot! Susan was able to reflect how easy it is for me to work on the move. I love the positioning of the photos and the warm and welcoming atmosphere she has created within the images.” 

How did you prepare for your personal branding photoshoot?

“I loved the session with Susan. I was impressed with the preparation beforehand. Susan shared a Trello™️ board with me (a great way of sharing ideas and assets). We spoke about how the process worked so I felt at ease on the day. I was able to share examples of images that I liked and would feel comfortable replicating. 

Susan was able to set up each photo quickly and I felt our time together was fully focused on getting through the shot list which Susan had shared with me before she arrived. I was also given a prop list which was a great idea and suggestions on how to dress. Susan also gave me plenty of opportunity during the shoot to add ideas, and improvise.” 

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

“I would thoroughly recommend this service to anyone looking to invest in their business branding. To update your image portfolio with photos that reflect your brand values and style of working will be a huge asset to your marketing materials. I can’t wait to use my new portfolio of images. What you’ll see is me in my natural working environment, whether this is at home in the kitchen or on the road in our motorhome!
